The Local Area.
Many people choose to visit the inland Costa Del Sol for the superb sunny climate without the crowds of the coast. Competa is a great place to relax and stroll to the bars and restaurants. All the restaurants have their own local delicacies, are excellent value for money and cater for all tastes. The terrace outside the Hotel Balcon is well suited to relaxing with a drink looking at the view down to the sea. They also have a swimming pool and tennis courts which are open to the public. There is also a large new municipal pool in the village.
Ten minutes walk from the house will take you into the local olive groves where there are many trails. Walking is a popular pastime in these hills. We leave a book of detailed walks in the house, and below is a link to more organised tours. Twenty five minutes by bus or car takes you to the beaches of Torre del Mar. Nerja and its surrounding beautiful beaches are also close by. It is possible to explore Andalucia and it's marvellous sights such as the cities of Granada, Cordoba, and Seville. Gibraltar is quite an experience and is well worth a day trip. There are also many local beautiful villages set in the mountain scenery.
Horse Riding, Walking, Cycling
The Competa area in general is well developed in providing tourist facilities for horse riding, walking/hiking and mountain biking. The quality
of the mountain and seascape scenery as well as the "away from it all" feeling, makes for a truely relaxing experience.
